Simple design and works great!

I ordered this unloading tool and some moon clips for my S&W Performance Center 642. This was my first experience using moon clips. Loading the moon clips without any tools isn't too tough, as long as the ammunition is a decent fit for the clips (I never had any idea how much variation there was from one ammunition manufacturer to the next!). But unloading the spent cartridge casings from a moon clip proved to be a challenge. With my fingers I just couldn't seem to get a grip on the first one without torquing the clip in a way that felt like I was going to bend it. With this clip unloading tool, the rounds pop right out with a quick twist. They also drop neatly into the tube, which is convenient. The tool is definitely well made and should last forever. I also can't say enough about how great the customer service from TK Custom was. I will definitely be ordering from them again!

I got one for my S&W 649 that I had TK Custom convert from a.38/.357mag to a 9mm. TK’s moon clip unloading tool makes it so easy to remove cases from the moon clips without damaging them. Also get the clip loading tool for ease of loading them moon clips both tools are worth getting.

Federal or Remington & others makes works the best with the .025 thick Full Moonclips, which fit all the .38/357 standard moonclip. They allow the cartridges to have some movement or wiggle so that they will fall right into the chambers once properly aligned. Winchester brass does not work at all as the groove width is too tight/small.

There is no SAAMI specifications for the extractor groove and each manufacturer makes them as they want. The following list gives you a great example. This is why the diameter size of the brass is critical to proper loading, unloading and fitment. Cartridge diameter too big and moonclip too small causes the moonclip to bend. The cartridge should rotate within their respective place and wobble slightly when all cartridges are loaded.
