Loading tool works perfectly with TK moon clips. However, it does *NOT* work with Ruger moon clips. The Ruger's apparently have a slightly smaller center hole and jammed up tight on the mandrel when I snapped one on. Absolutely destroyed the clip trying to get it off the mandril.
Overall the kit delivers a much lighter and smoother trigger pull. Install was not an issue and while I was in there proper polishing and lubrication was performed. At the range the 442 was easily more shootable with the exception of one problem. The trigger on my pistol, with the new rebound spring, was quite sluggish. This was not observed with the stock spring. So as it stands for now the TK rebound spring has been removed. I'd like to investigate further why this is happening and make this whole kit work as it should.
Brand new 686-plus.
Initially installing the part revealed significant side to side wobble. Inspection showed the small block on the back of the release that interfaces with the gun is too tall.
Filing this block down is necessary for proper fit and function.
Can’t say exactly how much I had to file off, but far enough that the little plus sign on the part is gone, and I had to keep going a little past that.
Now it’s perfect, it sits flat on the gun’s side plate with a gap that I can barely slide a piece of paper into. No wobble and 100% functionality.
In closing, it’s a beautifully machined part, but may not be “plug and play”. YMMV.
