Gunsmith's Needle Files for Precise Firearm Customization and Maintenance
SKU
Diamond needle files are essential tools for precision work in various industries, including gunsmithing and firearm maintenance. These files are designed to cut and shape hard materials with exceptional precision and efficiency. Here are some key features and benefits of diamond needle file sets for gunsmithing:
-
Extreme Hardness: Diamond needle files are made with an incredibly hard industrial diamond powder impregnated surface. This hardness allows them to cut through some of the toughest materials, including carbide, steel, glass, ceramics, and even hardened firearm components.
-
Minimal Material Removal: Due to their hardness and abrasive nature, diamond needle files require very little travel or effort to remove material. This precision cutting capability is ideal for gunsmiths who need to make precise adjustments or modifications to firearm parts without overcutting.
-
Available Grits: Diamond needle files are available in both coarse and fine grits. Coarse grit files are suitable for initial material removal, while fine grit files provide a smoother finish and are excellent for finishing touches.
-
Longevity: Diamond files have a long lifespan compared to traditional metal files. The abrasive diamond surface maintains its cutting ability for an extended period, making these files a cost-effective choice for long-term use.
-
Versatility: These files can be used on various firearm components, including trigger parts, sights, barrels, and more. They are also suitable for other precision work, such as jewelry making, watchmaking, and metalworking.
-
Compact and Portable: Diamond needle file sets are typically compact and easy to carry, making them a convenient addition to a gunsmith's toolkit. Their small size allows for detailed work in tight spaces.
-
Precision Shaping: Gunsmiths use diamond needle files for shaping and fitting firearm parts. Whether it's adjusting the trigger sear engagement or fitting a new sight, these files provide the precision needed for a perfect fit.
-
Reduced Heat Buildup: Diamond files generate less heat during the cutting process compared to traditional files. This reduced heat helps prevent damage to heat-sensitive firearm components.
-
Easy to Clean: Diamond files are relatively easy to clean. Regular maintenance involves removing accumulated debris from the file's surface, ensuring consistent cutting performance.
-
Long-Lasting Cutting Surface: Diamond files are known for maintaining their cutting effectiveness over time. With proper care, they can last for an extended period, making them a reliable investment.
Diamond needle files are a valuable addition to a gunsmith's toolbox, allowing for precise and efficient work on firearm components. Whether you need to adjust trigger engagement, modify sights, or perform other precision tasks, these files provide the cutting power and durability required for the job.

Federal or Remington & others makes works the best with the .025 thick Full Moonclips, which fit all the .38/357 standard moonclip. They allow the cartridges to have some movement or wiggle so that they will fall right into the chambers once properly aligned. Winchester brass does not work at all as the groove width is too tight/small.

There is no SAAMI specifications for the extractor groove and each manufacturer makes them as they want. The following list gives you a great example. This is why the diameter size of the brass is critical to proper loading, unloading and fitment. Cartridge diameter too big and moonclip too small causes the moonclip to bend. The cartridge should rotate within their respective place and wobble slightly when all cartridges are loaded.
