Paired the DA hammer with target trigger. Trigger is great, but hammer sear would not clear and fire. Instead of playing gunsmith and filing sear TK staff offered to fix or replace with new part. Hoping for a great review when new hammer arrives.

Bought the Drop-in Diamond hammer and a trigger for my 986 S&W. Great product that truly did drop in without modifications. My only gripe was some questions going unanswered via email after spending a decent amount of money with TK, but hey, can't blame them if they are busy making good products

I installed this da only hammer in a Performance Center 586 L comp with a Power Custom trigger. This was not a drop in part in this particular gun. The sear needed material removed from the top rear of the sear for the bottom of the sear to reach the trigger shelf. Bottom and side of sear also benefitted from light stoning. Material was removed from bottom of hammer toe to allow trigger cam point to smoothly engage (to be fair a little material was removed from the trigger as well). Nice that an extended firing pin and spring were included. After fitting it works well and is very smooth. A 5.25 lb trigger pull weight was reached, but put it at 6 lbs for reliability. Over all I'm happy with the results.

Federal or Remington & others makes works the best with the .025 thick Full Moonclips, which fit all the .38/357 standard moonclip. They allow the cartridges to have some movement or wiggle so that they will fall right into the chambers once properly aligned. Winchester brass does not work at all as the groove width is too tight/small.

There is no SAAMI specifications for the extractor groove and each manufacturer makes them as they want. The following list gives you a great example. This is why the diameter size of the brass is critical to proper loading, unloading and fitment. Cartridge diameter too big and moonclip too small causes the moonclip to bend. The cartridge should rotate within their respective place and wobble slightly when all cartridges are loaded.
