Extended Firing Pin Kit — S&W Centerfire Revolver
An extended firing pin for S&W centerfire revolvers, and it is more than a replacement part. The real reason to run one is trigger tuning. With a longer pin, you can safely back off the strain screw to lighten your double-action pull, and the pin still reaches the primer fully so ignition stays reliable. You get a lighter trigger without swapping a single spring, and there is no downside to running it on your factory mainspring.
How it works: your double-action pull is partly set by how hard the strain screw presses on the mainspring. Back the screw off and the pull lightens, but a factory length pin may no longer hit the primer hard enough, causing light strikes. The extended pin makes up that distance, so you can run a lighter pull and still light every primer.

Federal or Remington & others makes works the best with the .025 thick Full Moonclips, which fit all the .38/357 standard moonclip. They allow the cartridges to have some movement or wiggle so that they will fall right into the chambers once properly aligned. Winchester brass does not work at all as the groove width is too tight/small.

There is no SAAMI specifications for the extractor groove and each manufacturer makes them as they want. The following list gives you a great example. This is why the diameter size of the brass is critical to proper loading, unloading and fitment. Cartridge diameter too big and moonclip too small causes the moonclip to bend. The cartridge should rotate within their respective place and wobble slightly when all cartridges are loaded.
