Internal Lock Plug Replacement Kit — S&W Revolver
An internal lock plug replacement kit for S&W revolvers, for a cleaner look that does away with the internal lock keyhole. Many newer S&W revolvers have an internal lock with a small keyhole on the frame above the cylinder release. This kit replaces that lock assembly with a plug, so the external keyhole is gone and the side of the frame looks the way a lot of shooters prefer. It is a cosmetic upgrade, and we make no claim about it changing how the gun functions or how reliable it is.
Why shooters do it: the internal lock is one of the most debated features on modern S&W revolvers, and many owners simply do not like the look of the keyhole on the side of the frame. This kit gives the frame the clean, lock-free appearance of an older S&W, which is purely about looks and personal preference.

Federal or Remington & others makes works the best with the .025 thick Full Moonclips, which fit all the .38/357 standard moonclip. They allow the cartridges to have some movement or wiggle so that they will fall right into the chambers once properly aligned. Winchester brass does not work at all as the groove width is too tight/small.

There is no SAAMI specifications for the extractor groove and each manufacturer makes them as they want. The following list gives you a great example. This is why the diameter size of the brass is critical to proper loading, unloading and fitment. Cartridge diameter too big and moonclip too small causes the moonclip to bend. The cartridge should rotate within their respective place and wobble slightly when all cartridges are loaded.
