Having problems.

Purchased (3) each moon clips for J-frame (5 shot) and K-frame (6 shot) S&W revolvers. Have tried 2 (of the 3) of each size in my M638 and M10, using factory .38Spl ammunition. The rounds will snap into the clips, but the loaded cylinder is "too tall" to close into the frame. Sufficient hand pressure was used but it would not close. It is an (almost) microscopic interference fit. Am very disappointed because TK Customs is a great company, has a great reputation and makes great products. Don't know why I can't make the clips work in my guns.

Great service

Could use finishing and deburring

I purchased these for my custom k-frame with the cylinder machined to accept these moon clips. They are difficult to load with cartridges even using the TK tool. I think the inner edges could use some deburring to soften the rough edges and makes he brass less sticky. Now I’ve got to get the spent cases out without bending the hell out of the clip. If there’s some tips for using these clips, I’m not seeing this information in the TK packing, catalogue, or on the website. Does the clip like some makes of brass and not others? I guess I’m on my own.

Federal or Remington & others makes works the best with the .025 thick Full Moonclips, which fit all the .38/357 standard moonclip. They allow the cartridges to have some movement or wiggle so that they will fall right into the chambers once properly aligned. Winchester brass does not work at all as the groove width is too tight/small.

There is no SAAMI specifications for the extractor groove and each manufacturer makes them as they want. The following list gives you a great example. This is why the diameter size of the brass is critical to proper loading, unloading and fitment. Cartridge diameter too big and moonclip too small causes the moonclip to bend. The cartridge should rotate within their respective place and wobble slightly when all cartridges are loaded.
