Great Clips

I found that the Federal American Eagle .38 special ammo work the best in those TK Moon Clips, and they unload easily. Plus, those TK Moon Clips hold the cartridges a perfect angle to load the ammo quickly into the cylinder of my Chiappa Rhino 50 DS. I would recommend the TK Moon Clips for any gun using moon clips.

Chiappa Moon Clips

I have a variety of .357, .38 +P, and .38 special ammo. Two brands fit. Two won’t go in. Three fall out. Guess it need to be brand specific, like one other makers clips. I started using clips with a S&W 986 9mm. A few brands of ammo fell ont, a few too large, most fit. Not much the clip maker can do about the different sized cases, I guess. Also use clips in S&W 686plus…so far not as much of a problem there. But I think I will go back to speed loaders…more reliable…

Chiappa Rhino Slit clips

I had ordered these and then returned them and swapped for the regular moonclips. Seemed the rounds were too loose. They weren't falling out, they just felt looser than the regular clips. Then bought a different brand ammo, and couldnt get them to load in the standard clips without bending them. Placed an order for the slit clips and they work perfect for the ammo I have. I would recommend to buy both the regular clips and slit clips, so you're covered either way.

Federal or Remington & others makes works the best with the .025 thick Full Moonclips, which fit all the .38/357 standard moonclip. They allow the cartridges to have some movement or wiggle so that they will fall right into the chambers once properly aligned. Winchester brass does not work at all as the groove width is too tight/small.

There is no SAAMI specifications for the extractor groove and each manufacturer makes them as they want. The following list gives you a great example. This is why the diameter size of the brass is critical to proper loading, unloading and fitment. Cartridge diameter too big and moonclip too small causes the moonclip to bend. The cartridge should rotate within their respective place and wobble slightly when all cartridges are loaded.
